Local Area Information

St Agnes is a charming historical village with a friendly atmosphere and a wide range of facilities. There is a post office, two mini-markets, a hairdresser, an organic produce shop, a real butcher, various antique and gift shops and more.

The village has several excellent pubs (eg. the close-by Driftwood Spars, St Agnes Hotel, The Tap and Peterville Inn), most of which offer food. The Cornish Pizza Company does excellent takeaway pizzas, and there is a fine fish-and-chip shop. 

Local Produce There is a traditional family butcher (Carrs) specialising in local Cornish meat and cheese.  They make their own sausages, burgers and pies and have a close relationships with all our local farmers so can tell you the story behind all the food they sell so pop in for a chat. 

While in St Agnes, why not come and pay a visit to The Veg shop for fresh organic vegetables and fruit, together with some fantastic picnic items including drinks, Quiches, ready to eat local smoked mackerel, locally prepared Olives, Various Cornish Cheese’s, Prima Bakery bread and more. 

St Agnes village Bakery is also worth a visit for local produce, specialising in pasties, giant sausage rolls and a variety of breads, cakes, takeaway foods and coffee. They are rated 5* on trip advisor and are vegetarian and vegan friendly with gluten free options.

Eating Out Most of the pubs offer excellent food from pub grub to restaurant standards. Right on the front at Trevaunance Cove is Schooner's Bistro, very good food and fabulous views. In the valley below Treth House on Quay Road is Genkis run by Owen and Natalie. Great coffee, cakes, paninis and salads. At the top of  Quay Road is the Taphouse, a lively wine and cocktail bar offering delicious food. The Peterville Inn is also excellent especially for Sunday dinner, and they do a great quiz night on a Monday evening (opposite Taphouse). 

Walking The area around St Agnes is blessed with many wonderful walks. Watch the sun go down from St Agnes Beacon, or just marvel at the fabulous views along the coastal walks. Nearby Visiting gorgeous Chapel Porth - less than 10 mins by car or a lovely 50 min walk - is a must and you can't leave without savouring one the famous 'hedgehog' ice-creams from the café. About 15mins' drive is Portreath with its breath-taking sands and a very good beach restaurant - the Blue-Bar.

Further Afield St. Ives (35mins), Newquay (25mins) and Padstow (40mins) are short drives away. They are all lovely seaside towns with plenty to do and great restaurants. The county town of Truro is 15mins' drive and has supermarkets, restaurants, cinema, a thriving shopping centre and the famous Hall for Cornwall.
